Fresno Magazine Photographer - Home Town Heroes

I was asked to shoot a couple and their granddaughter for the Hometown Heroes section of Fresno Magazine.

These people all participated in saving a woman's life who had driven her SUV into their pool!

This is Larry and Francine with their granddaughter Saraphina.

Fresno Portrait Photographer - Freelance

Fresno Magazine asked me to take a full body portrait of a local man who restored a rare vintage airplane.  The plane is a 1943 Meyers OTW (Out to Win).

Joey Sahakian was a great guy, full of energy and patient with me.  The article and the portrait that I took appears in the January 2009 edition of Fresno Magazine.

His airplane was truly beautiful and I couldn't resist snapping a shot or two, even though that was not my assignment.

Here's a couple of outtakes of the portrait... and a shot of the plane.

Cocktails - Fresno Product Photographer

I was commissioned by Fresno Magazine to take a picture of this drink for the Barfly section of their publication.

I used only available light... but if I get an opportunity like this again, I think I'll bring some lighting options.  I'm not 100% pleased with the photos, better lighting would have helped.

You can find this drink at The Manhattan Steakhouse in Fresno, CA.  On the corner of Bullard and West

I'm anxious to see which shot the magazine chooses.

Guess How Many

Initially, I took this photo (see below) for a magazine called "Asian Restaurant News" (the issue will be out in August).

I uploaded it to my Flickr account.

Yahoo.com Mexico
picked up the photo from my flickr account and used in on their front page.

Guess how many people viewed this photo yesterday. Seriously, throw out a guess.

Now ask me how much money I've received for the use of this photo. Answer: nada.

Stock Photography Here I Come

In an attempt to delve into the world of stock photography, I'm photoshelter.com's newest photographer. I've been approved to sell stock photography on their site. Now I just need models that will work for free, a studio and tons of extra time to work on it... that shouldn't be to difficult.

I put an application into istockphoto.com, but they rejected it. I will try again with them in a few days.

Restaurant Photoshoot - Helen's Chinese Gourmet

Below are a few shots from today's photo shoot for a magazine called, "Asian Restaurant News". I took these at Helen's Gourmet Chinese Food in N. Fresno. Apparently, the magazine is going to feature them on the front cover. That means if my photos are good enough, I will have a photo on the front cover of a national magazine! That would be pretty cool.

Anyway, Helen was an amazingly nice lady! She sent us (Josh helped me) home with a bunch of food that I shot, which was helpful because Sarah hadn't been able to prepare dinner. The food was GOOD! They've been in business for 13 years, so I think the restaurant is doing something right. If you stop in for lunch or dinner, tell Helen that Joe says, "Hi".
